The present Frenchmoor Racing Motor Engineers was born from the business started by Rick Storer in 1972, in what was then Noyce’s Timber Yard.
He began his business as R.E.C. Storer Commercial & Construction Equipment Engineer, working mainly on lorries to start within an open-fronted building near the entrance to the yard.
By 1982 the business had diversified and was including an increasing number of private vehicles and Rick was joined by his eldest son, Mark, and the Frenchmoor Racing Motor Engineers partnership was formed. Mark apprenticed at Testwood Motors after leaving school and became a master technician in V.W. / Audi vehicles.
As the business quickly expanded it moved within the yard to more secure and comfortable premises opposite, which they gradually extended to accommodate the ever-increasing equipment.
In 1994, Rick’s second son joined the partnership, bringing with him his considerable experience from his work in fibreglass construction. This resulted in further diversification into bodywork for Delta Motor Sport and other race cars as well as seats for the Sunseeker boats.
Unfortunately in 1999 a serious fire in a neighbouring building totally destroyed the fibreglass business and Gary joined his father and brother in the engineering workshop.
